Food Service

The monthly menu and payment information is posted on the district website. Families who choose to may send in cash/check in an envelope labeled with their child’s name and homeroom teacher.

Menus and order forms will be sent home. Families need to order in advance to ensure time to prepare and deliver meals for students. If you need to make a change to your order, parents/guardians should contact their child’s teacher or the main office at the preschool.

Breakfast After the Bell

Students will report directly to the classroom for breakfast as part of their morning routine. School breakfast offerings will be available to preschool students who choose to participate. You may also choose to have breakfast at home or send your own breakfast item with your child.

Lunch

Lunch will be delivered to preschool students who order in advance. You may also choose to pack and send lunch with your child.

Snack

Please send your child to school with a healthy snack and a refillable water bottle every day. Snacks will not be provided.

School Attire

Our goal is to support independence for your child as they move through their school day. Please send your child in clothing that is comfortable and easy for them to manage during the day (e.g., elastic waistbands, loose fitting, light jacket/sweater, simple zippers and buttons, if any). Shoes should have a secure back for safety reasons.

Please send an additional change of clothes in a labeled Ziploc bag.

Nap/Quiet Time

One hour will be set aside for nap/quiet time each day. While students are not required to nap, all students will participate in at least 30 minutes of restful quiet time as part of their day.

Please send a fitted crib sheet, a blanket, and a small, soft pillow with your child each each week for use during nap/quiet time. Label each item with your child’s name and send them in to school in a fabric bag, no plastic please. These items should be sent in on Monday and will be sent home on Friday to be washed and returned.

Attendance

Preschool is not required by the state of New Jersey. However, this program is a full day, five day a week program intended for full time attendance.

If your child is going to be absent, please contact the nurse in the main office at (856) 617-0918. You can also email the nurse or your child’s teacher in advance to notify us of a scheduled absence.  If you do not contact the school, we will call to check on your child.

Children entering preschool must be at least three years old on or before October 1, 2023.

You will receive an email invitation to set up this important online account for access to your child’s records. You will be prompted to complete required forms at the start of this process, as well as designate pick up persons for your child(ren). If you do not receive this email before the start of the school year, or if you need additional assistance, please contact Mrs. Melissa Chisholm at mjchisholm@apsd.us.

Toilet training is encouraged, but we understand that students are still developing independence in this area and that accidents happen. Please communicate openly with your child’s teacher so we can support your child’s development in this area.

Parents should first contact their child’s teacher for questions regarding the preschool program. If you still need assistance, you may contact Mrs. Ledyard as indicated below.
